To get a class HR licence it
is necessary to:
· have held a minimum of
a class C licence or
equivalent (not a Learner's Licence) for at least 2 years;
· pass an eyesight
test;
· pass a knowledge
test;
· pass a class HR driving test or complete a
Competency Based Assessment Test
At DAVIDS we offer AUTOMATIC or CONSTANTMESH gearboxes in the
HR Licence class:
AUTOMATIC / SYNCHROMESH This
takes some of the pressure off you and allows you to concentrate on the other
major factors required to competently operate a heavy vehicle in traffic
(especially while you are learning) without restricting you to driving an
automatic truck once you have completed all competencies to obtain your
licence.
· When you do your
licence in a truck with a synchromesh gearbox which is like a car manual, or on
an automatic you will get a conditions "B” placed on your licence that only
restricts you from driving constantmesh gearboxes where you have to double
shuffle to change gears (this type of gearbox is no longer as common as it used
to be in HR vehicles and is
not usually found in most Japanese or European trucks like Isuzu or Volvo
· If at a later date you
wish to remove the condition "B” from your licence, you simply
take a loaded MR vehicle or
above to the RTA and do a gearbox assessment. Alternatively, upgrade your
licence class in a constantmesh gearbox at a later date.
· If you currently have
a MR licence and it has no
conditions "B” on it, then
you can upgrade on an automatic and still have an unrestricted licence issued to
you.
CONSTANTMESH
· Constantmesh means that you have to DOUBLE SHUFFLE
the gears and change gears manually using the revs of the motor to co-ordinate
the change
· Takes longer to learn,
requires co-ordination;
· Gives you an
unrestricted licence which would make you more employable in the job
market.
COST
· Can be done hourly, or
by a fixed course price from start to finish;
· If you find a better
price let us know. |
